Minimum consent is an important part of MyDesk that allows users to log in and book meetings in Planner. In this article, we will go through what minimum consent means, how it works and why it must be given in order to log in.

What is minimum consent? #

Minimum consent in MyDesk means you can log in with your Office365 email account and book meetings at your location. It’s a simple and secure way to access the system.

Security and privacy #

MyDesk does not store personal information about users. The meetings that are booked are stored in Outlook and MyDesk does not have access to see or read your information. The only thing MyDesk can see is your name and email address.

The difference between minimum consent and full consent #

There are some limitations to minimum consent, especially when compared to full consent. With full consent, MyDesk can save the meetings to your calendar, but even with full consent, they do not have access to read your information, it is only read in context by your own user and only you can see this data displayed in MyDesk.

Step 1: Sign in with your Microsoft account at https://planner.mydesk.dk #

To log in to MyDesk, you must approve that you are allowed to log in. MyDesk has chosen to handle login through Microsoft as it is a more secure method than using a MyDesk defined username and password.

Challenges with passwords #

One of the challenges of having unique passwords for all applications is that users often forget them, which creates extra work for the administration and is often not secure. MyDesk wants to avoid insecure passwords and has therefore chosen Microsoft login with multi-factor authentication enabled, which is standard in Office 365.

Step 2: First login and consent #

When you log in for the first time, you will be asked to give consent to show your basic profile information, such as name, picture, username and email. If you are an administrator, you can give consent on behalf of the organization.

Step 3: Access if the administrator gives consent #

If the administrator has given consent, colleagues can log in directly without having to give consent. This makes the process faster and more efficient. However, it’s also fine to have each user give consent the first time if you prefer.

Direct access for colleagues

Step 4: Booking meetings in planner.mydesk.dk #

Once you have given consent, you can start booking meetings in MyDesk Planner. It is important to note that the meetings do not automatically go into your calendar. You have to add them yourself when only the minimum consent has been given.

Step 4: Add meeting catering #

In addition to booking meeting rooms, you can also add meeting catering to your meetings.

Conclusion #

Minimum consent in MyDesk is a convenient solution for users who want to log in and book meetings without compromising security but also limiting what MyDesk can access. By using Microsoft login, users get a secure and efficient way to manage their meetings.
