In this blog, we’ll dive into the two types of consent required to give your employees access to MyDesk. We’ll look at how these consents work and which type best suits your business needs.

Step 1: Understand the minimum consent #

Minimum consent is the simplest and simplest form of authentication required to access MyDesk. This type of consent only allows access to the most basic user data, such as usernames and email addresses. It is a consent that the user can give themselves, unless your organization has restricted this option.

Minimum consent explanation

With minimum consent, the user can log in to MyDesk and book meeting rooms, view availability and order meeting catering. The limitation is that the user cannot access this information in their Outlook via the Outlook add-in, which means that the fully integrated experience is missing.

Step 2: Consider full consent #

The full consent is recommended for most companies as it provides more comprehensive access to MyDesk’s features and better integration. With this consent, users can not only view and book meeting rooms, but also desks and other resources.

Full consent options

It’s important to note that in MyDesk we store the absolute minimum of data. We do not store your meetings or a copy of your meeting rooms, but the user can load data from their Office 365 or Exchange account.

Step 3: Choose the right consent form #

The choice between minimum and full consent depends on your business needs and data access requirements. Consider what type of access your users need and then decide which type of consent is the best fit.

Step 4: Approve the consent in your organization #

Once you have chosen the appropriate consent, you need to implement it in your organization. This can be done by users giving consent themselves (minimum consent only) or by an administrator doing it on behalf of the organization.
