Delete Outlook Add’in cache

If you have problems with your Outlook not loading the latest version of the Addin that your IT department has rolled out, it’s because Outlook stores old Addins locally for a period of time.

You can speed up the process by doing the following:

  1. Close Outlook
  2. Press the Windows button on your keyboard
  3. Type “Run” (and press enter on your keyboard), if your Windows is in English, type “Run”
  4. Paste this url and press enter: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Wef
    Delete Outlook cache
  5. Delete everything in the folder (if you’re nervous about deleting, you can also copy the files to your desktop for backup)
  6. Restart Outlook
  7. Within a few seconds, Outlook will download the new Outlook addin into Outlook
